Family of the Child of Barnabas4 Washburn and Hannah Thears

 

 

         Barnabas Washburn and his wife Hannah, whose surname may have been Thayer, rather than Thears, had only one son, Elkanah, who left descendants. He lived where his father had lived, in Kingston, Massachusetts.

Elkanah5 Washburn, younger son of (199) Barnabas4 Washburn, (68) Deacon John3, (45) Philip2, (28) John1 (4th); born in Kingston, MA, on 3 Jan. 1750/1,[1] married Mercy/Marcy Foster on 16 Nov. 1786 in Kingston.[2] She was born on ca. 22 Nov. 1759,[3] and they were living in Kingston, MA, in the 1790,[4] 1800,[5] 1810,[6] 1820,[7] and 1830 federal censuses,[8] where he was a farmer.

        Elkanah Washburn died on 5 Jan. 1831 in Kingston, aged 80 years,[9] and Mercy (Foster) Washburn died a widow on 4 or 5 Sept. 1844 in Kingston, aged 85 years, 9 months, 13 days,[10] but no probate records were filed for either of their estates in Plymouth County.

        Elkanah Washburn and Mercy Foster had chil­dren:

        2101      i   Elizabeth6 Washburn, born on 24 Oct. ca. 1787 in Kingston,[11] never married. She was living with her brother Nathaniel Washburn in Kingston in the 1850 federal census, and was probably the Eliz. Washburn living in the town pauper house as an insane inmate in the 1860 federal census.[12] She died on 28 Apr. 1866 in Kingston, aged 78 years, 6 months, 4 days, of insanity,[13] but no probate records were filed for her estate.

+      2102    ii   Lois6 Washburn, born on 18 Mar. 1790 in Kingston,[14] married Sylvanus6 Bryant, of Kingston, son of Luther5 and (2081) Priscilla6 (Washburn) Bryant, of Plympton,[15] as his second wife, in 1817.[16] He was born on ca. 5 Feb. 1786 in Plympton,[17] a grandson of (776) Ezekiel5 and Priscilla (Chipman) Washburn, of Kingston.[18] He was her second cousin once removed, and he had married first to Lydia Rickard or Reckord on 28 Oct. 1810 in Kingston.[19] They lived in Kingston, MA.         2103    iii   Lusannah Washburn, born on 24 Dec. 1791 in Kingston,[20] marriage not found.

+      2104   iv   Mercy6 Washburn, born on 6 Apr. 1796 in Kingston,[21] married Samuel J. Nutter on 24 Jan. 1830 in Kingston,[22] and they lived in Kingston. (To be continued in Washburn Sixth Generation.)

+      2105    v   Nathaniel6 Washburn, born on 12 Aug. 1799 in Kingston,[23] married Mary C. Fish, daughter of Caleb and Hannah (Crooker) Fish, of Pembroke, MA,[24] on 8 Dec. 1840 in Pembroke,[25] and they lived in Kingston. (To be continued in Washburn Sixth Generation.)
