Family of the Child of Timothy5 Washburn (Jr.) and Kezia Guild

The only child of Timothy Washburn (Jr.) and Kezia Guild that I have been able to trace is son Levi Washburn, who married Abigail Porter, and lived in Hebron, and Marlborough, Connecticut, and they had only one son whose descendants I have been able to trace, so this is a very small file. I will add to it if new information is uncovered.

(1122.) Levi6 Washburn, second son of (395) Timothy5 Washburn (Jr.), (120) Timothy4, (57) Thomas3, (43) John2 (5th), (28) John1 (4th); born in Hebron, CT, on 22 Oct. 1749,[1] married Abigail Porter, daughter of Deacon Increase and Mary (Niles) Porter, of Hebron, Tolland Co., CT,[2] on 22 Mar. 1772 in Hebron, CT.[3] She was born on 24 or 25 June 1753 in Hebron, CT,[4] a granddaughter of David and Anne (Phelps) Porter,[5] and they lived in Hebron, Tolland Co., CT.

Levi Washburn was living in Hebron, Tolland Co., CT, in the 1790,[6] and 1800 federal censuses,[7] but he was not a head of household in Connecticut in the 1810 federal census. They moved to Marlborough, Hartford, Co., CT, in 1808. Abigail was admitted to the Congregational Church in Marlborough, CT, on 7 Aug. 1808, upon recommendation from the First Church in Hebron.[8] He died on 19 Aug. 1816 in Marlborough, Hartford Co., CT, aged 67 years,[9] and she was probably the “Anna” Washburn whose death was recorded on the same page as Levi Washburn on 13 Apr. 1817 in Marlborough, CT, aged 64 years.[10]

Levi Washburn and Abigail Porter had children:

2750    i   Mary Washburn, born on 22 June 1773 in Hebron, Tolland Co., CT,[11] marriage not found

2751   ii   Joel7 Washburn, born on 14 Mar. 1775 in Hebron, CT,[12] married Lydia Hosford, daughter of Othniel and Sarah (Willard) Hosford,[13] of West Springfield, MA, on 16 Nov. 1807 in West Springfield.[14] She was born ca. 1780, a granddaughter of Ephraim and Lydia (Griswold) Willard.[15] He was living in Marlborough, Hartford Co., CT, in the 1810 federal census.[16] On 14 Mar. 1820 Joel Washburn, of Marlborough, Hartford Co., CT, purchased two parcels of land in lot #52 in Marcellus, Onondaga Co., NY, from James and Sylvia Cornell, of Marcellus, of 100 acres and 20 acres, for $2100, subject to a mortgage for $71.[17] He died on 30 Mar. 1829 in Onondaga Co., NY, aged 54 years,[18] and was buried in Lake View Cemetery in Skaneateles, Onondaga Co., NY. On 12 May 1835 Lydia Washburn, Willard P. Washburn, and Ralph Washburn, of Skaneateles, Onondaga Co., NY, heirs at law of Joel Washburn, deceased, sold their share of the two parcels of land in lot #52 in Skaneateles, formerly in the township of Marcellus, containing 100 acres and 20 acres, to Peter Hoagland, of Skaneateles, for $3600,[19] and on 12 May 1841 Sarah Ann Washburn, now of Homer, Cortland Co., NY, one of the heirs at law of Joel Washburn, late of Marcellus, Onondaga Co., NY, deceased, sold her share of the two parcels of land in lot #52 in Skaneateles, formerly in Marcellus, to Peter Hoagland, of Skaneateles, for $1200.[20] They probably had at two sons and a daughter:

a. Willard Porter8 Washburn, born on 16 June 1808 or 1809 in CT,[21] called “Porter,” moved to Ashtabula Co., OH, and married Betsey Clark, daughter of William Fowler and Alma (Downs) Clark,[22] on 6 Oct. 1836 in Monroe, Ashtabula Co., OH.[23] She was born supposedly on 8 Aug. 1813 in Bethany, New Haven Co., CT,[24] a granddaughter of Aaron and Elizabeth (Fowler) Clark.[25] They were living in Monroe, Ashtabula Co., OH, in the 1840,[26] 1850,[27] 1860,[28] and 1870 federal censuses,[29] where he was a farmer, and in the 1880 federal census.[30] His farm next door to Ralph Washburn was owned by Frank Washburn, who he raised as Frank Clark, in Monroe, Ashtabula Co., OH, in the 1880 federal census, and may have been an adopted nephew of Betsey (Clark) Washburn. She died on 1 July 1887 in Kelloggsville, Ashtabula Co., OH,[31] and he died a widower on 15 Sept. 1895 in Monroe, Ashtabula Co., OH, aged 86 years,[32] and they were both buried in Kelloggsville, OH. They had 2 children and an adopted son:

1. Lydia9 A. Washburn, born in Oct. 1837 in CT,[33] was still unmarried and living with her parents in Monroe, OH, in the 1860 federal census, a shoemaker, married Robert Furmage in ca. 1864.[34] He was born in Apr. 1841 in England.[35] They were living in Monroe, Ashtabula Co., OH, in the 1880 federal census, where he was a farmer,[36] and in the 1900 federal census.[37] He died on 22 Dec. 1903 in Kelloggsville, Ashtabula Co., OH, aged 62 years.[38]

2. Frances9 S. Washburn, born in 1840 in Ashtabula Co., OH,[39] married Urban P. Hardy, son of John and Esther (Chapin) Hardy,[40] as his second wife, on 22 Feb. 1871 in Monroe, Ashtabula Co., OH.[41] He was born on 18 June 1829 in Kingsville, Ashtabula Co., OH,[42] and had married first to Ruth Maine, daughter of Thomas and Rhonda (Colgrove) Maine, in 1866,[43] but she had died on 24 Oct. 1870 in Ashtabula Co., OH, aged 43 years.[44] They were living in Monroe, Ashtabula Co., OH, in the 1880 federal census, where he was a farmer.[45] He died on 24 Apr. 1896 in Ashtabula Co., OH, aged 66 years,[46] and Frances (Washburn) Hardy died in Apr. 1896 in Kelloggsville, Ashtabula Co., OH,[47] and they were all buried in Monroe Township Kelloggsville Cemetery in Kelloggsville, OH.

3. Frank L. Clark, apparently adopted, born in 1853 in OH,[48] married, as Frank Washburn, to Emma J. Bennett, daughter of Orrin and Elizabeth (Buffum) Bennett,[49] in 1874.[50] She was born on 1 Mar. 1854.[51] They were living on the Porter Washburn farm next door to Ralph Washburn in the 1880 federal census.[52] He died in 1914,[53] and was buried in East Conneaut Cemetery in Conneaut, Ashtabula Co., OH. She remarried to Mark Print in 1915.[54] He was born in 1854.[55] She died on 24 July 1929, aged 75 years,[56] and he died on 26 Jan. 1930,[57] and they were both buried in East Conneaut Cemetery in Conneaut, OH.

b. Ralph8 Washburn, born in ca. Jan. 1814 in CT,[58] married Emeline Eaton on 27 Oct. 1847 in Ashtabula Co., OH.[59] She was born ca. 1829 in OH,[60] and they were living next door to his brother Porter Washburn in Monroe, Ashtabula Co., OH, in the 1850,[61] 1860,[62] and 1870 federal censuses,[63] where he was also a farmer, and they were still living in Monroe, OH, in the 1880 federal census.[64] She died on 13 Feb. 1897 in Monroe, Ashtabula Co., OH, aged 68 years, of pneumonia,[65] and he died a widower on 31 July 1897 in Monroe, OH, aged 83 years, 6 months, of “dropsy.”[66] They had children:

1. Sarah Ann Washburn, born ca. Oct. 1848 in OH,[67] died on 1 Oct. 1851, aged 2 years, 11 months,[68] and was buried in Durkee Cemetery in Conneaut, Ashtabula Co., OH.

2. Lucia9 “Lucy” A. Washburn, born ca. 1851 in Monroe, OH,[69] was still unmarried and living with her parents in Monroe, OH, in the 1880 federal census, a school teacher, married Alpheus Babbett, of Monroe, OH, on 6 Apr. 1887 in Conneaut, Ashtabula Co., OH,[70] but she died on 30 Dec. 1891 in Monroe, Ashtabula Co., OH.[71] He was born in June 1834 in PA,[72] and he remarried to Cynthia (___) in ca. 1893, and they were living in Monroe, Ashtabula Co., OH, in the 1900 federal census, where he was as farmer.[73]

3. Elmer9 W. Washburn, born ca. 1861 in OH,[74] probably never married. He was still unmarried and living in Monroe, Ashtabula Co., OH, in the 1900,[75] and 1910 federal censuses,[76] a farmer.

4. Ida9 A. Washburn, born ca. 1863 in OH,[77] married Frank C. Brewster on 1 Feb. 1894 in Jefferson, Ashtabula Co., OH.[78] They were living in Monroe, Ashtabula Co., OH, in the 1900 federal census, where he was a farmer.[79]

c. Sarah8 Ann Washburn, was still apparently unmarried and living in Homer, Cortland Co., NY, in 1841 when she sold her share of her father’s land in Skaneateles, formerly Marcellus, Onondaga Co., NY.

2752  iii   Abigail Washburn, born on 20 Jan. 1777 in Hebron, CT,[80] marriage not found.
