John Washburn and Sarah Gunn had a small family of only 4 children in Derby, Connecticut, one of whom died young. The elder son lived in Derby, the elder daughter lived in New Haven and East Haven, Connecticut, and the younger son lived in Derby, Oxford, and Seymour, Connecticut.

John5 Washburn (Jr.), eldest son of (282) John4 Washburn, (93) William3, (51) Hope2, (30) William1; born Derby, CT, in June ca. 1731,[1] married Experience Osborn,[2] daughter of Deacon Thomas and Elizabeth (Smith) Osborn, of New Haven,[3] and they lived in Derby, CT. She was born on 15 Oct. 1737 in New Haven,[4] a granddaughter of Joseph and Experience (Tolles) Osborn (Jr.), and of John and Mehitabel (Talmadge) Smith.[5]

2324 i (Supposedly) Sarah6 Washburn, born ca. 1764 in Derby, married Andrew Hawkins, of Derby, CT, son of Samuel and Sarah (Smith) Hawkins,[9] in ca. 1784. He was born supposedly on 2 May 1762 in Derby, CT.[10] She died before 1793,[11] and he remarried to Elizabeth Swift.[12] He supposedly died on 27 Feb. 1850 in Genoa, Cayuga Co., NY.[13] Sarah (Washburn) Hawkins had one daughter:
a. Experience Hawkins, born on 18 Feb. 1786, married William Smith, son of William Clark and (2317) Rebecca6 (Washburn) Smith. He was born ca. 1785 in Derby, a grandson supposedly of (871) Timothy5 and Hannah (Curtis) Washburn. They were probably living in Derby, New Haven Co., CT, in the 1820 federal census, where he was a farmer.[14] She died on 3 Mar. 1821 in Derby, aged 35 years, 13 days,[15] and he remarried to 2.) Sarah Lum, daughter of David and Abigail (Gorham) Lum, of Derby, on 24 Apr. 1823 in Derby.[16] She was born on 30 Jan. 1805 in CT.[17] They were living in Derby, CT, in the 1830,[18] 1840,[19] and 1850 federal census, close by Sheldon Smith, “Jr,” presumably his brother.[20] He died on 30 Jan. 1860 in Derby, aged 74 years,[21] and she was still living in Derby, CT, in the 1860 federal census.[22] She died on 26 May 1869 in Derby, aged 64 years,[23] and they were both buried in Oak Cliff Cemetery in Derby, CT.

Wooster (Jr.), son of Capt. John and Eunice (
2326 iii Experience6 Washburn, born say ca. 1767, supposedly married Nathan Wheeler, son of Simeon and Sarah (Baldwin) Wheeler, of Derby,[27] in ca. 1792. He was born on 29 Sept. 1767 in Derby.[28] Children not found. They were living in Derby, CT, in the 1800 federal census,[29] but he was not a head of household in Derby in the 1810 federal census, and no death record was found for him.

daughter of (282) John4 Washburn, (93) William3, (51) Hope2, (30) William1; born in
Derby, CT, on 19 Feb. 1732/3 in Derby,[30]
married Capt. Timothy Tuttle, of New Haven, CT, son of Noah and Rachel
(Hoadley) Tuttle, of New Haven,[31]
on 12 Jan. 1748/9 in New Haven.[32]
He was born on 3 Apr. 1724 in Branford, New Haven Co., CT,[33] a grandson of
Joseph and Elizabeth (
Timothy Tuttle died on 22 Oct. 1778 in
East Haven, New Haven Co., CT, aged 54 years,[35]
and Anna (Washburn) Tuttle died a widow on 17 Apr. 1782 in
Anna Washburn and Capt. Timothy Tuttle had children:[37]

2331 v Elizabeth Tuttle, born say ca. 1758 in New Haven, married George King (Jr.), son of George and Patience (Conklin) King,[49] on 30 May 1776 in East Haven, CT.[50] She died on 17 Dec. 1786 in East Haven, of a fever.[51] George King was not a head of household in New Haven Co., CT, in the 1790 federal census, and may have moved to Brookhaven, NY, with his father. They supposedly had children:
a. Patience King, born ca. 1777,[52] died in Jan. 1786 in East Haven, aged 8 years, of dysentery.[53]
b. John King, born on 12 or 13 Oct. 1780 in East Haven, CT.[54]
c. Rebecca King, born ca. 1783 in East Haven, CT,[55] died on 26 Jan. 1786 in East Haven, aged 2 years, of dysentery.[56]
d. Elizabeth King, born on 14 Sept. 1785 in East Haven, CT.[57]

probably in Derby, CT on 27 Jan. 1736/7, married Sarah Harger, daughter of
Ephraim and Mary (Humphrey) Harger, of Derby, CT,[60] on 2 June 1767 in
Derby,[61] and they lived in
Derby near Seymour, CT, where his name was usually spelled “Washband” in the records. She was born
on 24 Dec. 1739 in Derby.[62]
They were living in
Sarah (Harger) Washburn died on 15 June 1790 in Seymour, CT,[66] and Josiah Washburn died on 7 July 1810 in Seymour, aged 75 years,[67] and they were both buried in the Episcopal Cemetery in Seymour, CT.
Josiah Washburn and Sarah Harger had 2 children:
